For this WebQuest you will be assembled into groups of three. As a Junior Ranger you will become familiar with several facts and figures and will be expected to answer key questions about Yosemite. The Internet, handouts, notes and any other available resources can be used for this task. After your fact finding mission is complete your group members will assemble to discuss and share your findings. Following completion of this WebQuest each of you should be able to accomplish the following tasks. 1. Learn to read and use a Legend on a topographic map to effectively and safely navigate the terrain in Yosemite. You should also be able to accurately identify popular landmarks within the park. 2. Educate your self on the rules of the wilderness and why abiding by these rules are essential for a safe and memorable experience. 3. Familiarize yourself with the seasons inside the park, What sport and recreation opportunities are available? 4. Reference the Human History within the park, from Native Americans to the first Non-Native inhabitants. You should also be able to cite the chronology and circumstances that led to Yosemite be designated as a National Park. 5. Locate key rock formations, lakes, waterfalls , and rivers. Explain the natural processes and forces that formed Yosemite Valley. 6.Identify the wildlife and vegetation that call Yosemite home. |
